Having the opportunity to play with and cuddle my two grandchildren each week is the greatest gift I could ever receive. We only look after them one day a week, but I am always happy for any chances there may be, for today they are children and tomorrow they will be adults. So treasure the time while you can.

I love spending time with my grandchildren but this should not become a chore. I have spent my time raising my children and I do not want to raise my grandchildren; I want to enjoy them and help out when I can, but not feel that I am expected to do this on a regular weekly basis, on fixed times and days. I believe grandparents are very important to their grandchildren and can play a vital role in their development and their sense of belonging to a family unit.

Amazing; all the comments..it is still the women who are bringing up the next generation. Pops may love it all but the WORK is still the women. When I asked for help my stepdaughter was always too busy, so now I am too busy and my husband doesnt want to "babysit" as he didnt do this with ours either. Mmmm..so karma has come around. And yes, I am really time starved!
