I looked after my grandsons with pleasure & enjoyed it so much.. It became the highlight of my life.. Now my son & daughter in law are separated (2 years ago )& I very rarely see or hear from them. They are no longer living in the same house. I don't even have their address. I miss them so much, my heart is broken... If you get to have your grandchildren stay with you or visit them you should be grateful for the opportunities & make every minute count... Those that think it a chore should be in my shoes for a whoile to see how it feels...

They should be paid some money for babysitting. I get $50 a week.

I am blessed to have four beautiful grandchildren & it has been an absolute delight to be able to spend time helping care for them in their pre school years. I have had the time to understand & know them so well, & spending time with them makes my heart sing. Next year they'll all be at school so I will be looking forward to spending time with them during school holidays.

Yes, I have 11 grandchildren. Yes, I help raise them. Babysitting sounds so impersonal... I think that after raising your children, they give you the privlege of having a big part of their lives to trust you, to guide them shows you you did something right in raising them. Fair enough to say that there are some parents out there that abuse the grandparent / grandchild privlege, but be grateful you have a second chance to install good nurturing in the next generation. Yay to all Nan and Pops that do it for love!
